28.0 Uniform Resource Locator
- In 1990, the British inventor Sir Timothy John, the URL first was represented in Geneva.
- In the early days, it was used to determine the location of particular files on the Internet.
- URL is a universal address to search or identify resource from location on the internet.
- A resource can be any media files
- For Example: web page, document or file, image, audio or video files.
- An Internet can store massive websites.
- A website is a collection of web page(s).
- To search or reach address of web page we need to write URL.
- It is also called web address.
- URL has several section or parts:
- Protocol
- HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
- HTTPS stands for HTTP Secure.
- Sub domain
- Domain
- Level of Domain
- Path of File or Location
- Web Page
- To access that URL in our PC - we need web browser.
- Web browser is an application which can display the website or web page(s).
- For Example:
28.1 Internet Service Provider
- An organisation or institute which provides internet services is called as ISP.
- ISP stands for Internet Service Provider.
- In India, there are following ISP members.
- For Example:
- ISP can be categories as commercial, community-owned, non-profit, or otherwise privately owned.
- ISP provides following kind of services to his/her customer.
- Domain registration.
- Backup and Restore
- Customer case
- Customized internet plan
- Business service
- Speed and availability
